Myrna is an experimental documentary that blends color digital and 16mm film to explore the Lower East Side of Manhattan through cinematic still images, storytelling, and archival audio. Weaving together personal histories and collective memory, this work reflects the resilience and evolving identity of the LES- from its immigrant roots to its ever-changing landscape. Photographs of my grandparents and longtime residents serve as a visual anchor, preserving individual stories that mirror the larger narrative of the city. Through a documentary approach paired with cinematic stills, I aim to capture the essence of the Lower East Side- its past, its present, and the people who have shaped it.
